LUXURY VINYL TILE FLOORING

Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) is a great solution for areas prone to moisture– bathroom, kitchen and in-home gym or “exercise room.” It offers a terrific variety of styles, patterns, colors and is designed to look like ceramic or porcelain tile.

Our first step will be consultation and estimate. We’ll be happy to meet with you to discuss your current flooring (and removal), budget, style options and to discuss installation.

Preparation

As with most floor installations, preparation is extremely important. We begin with removal of shoe moulding around the room’s perimeter, followed by removal of the existing floor surface—old vinyl, wood, carpet, etc. It’s important during this process to remove any old nails, and thoroughly prepare the surface below… the subfloor. This area MUST be smooth and level for stability and protection against moisture. We’ll sand any higher spots, and fill in lower spots. In some cases we may add new underlayment which will provide an extra level of protection, comfort and sound-proofing.

We should mention, we now offer optional DUST “LESS” sanding and refinishing. The process will help to reduce the amount of dust produced in the sanding process.

Next is installation. Luxury vinyl tile can be either “peel and stick” or “groutable.” It takes a great deal of measuring, marking the subfloor (or underlayment), and if necessary, use of tile spacers to assure the floor is properly aligned and symmetrical. This makes the most of your materials (with little waste). Restored Floors takes great care to plan and implement the layout of your floor, with cost-effective, attractive results.

Finishing—In some cases, we’ll use a large roller ensure a tight bond between your tile and the subfloor (or underlayment). In the case of groutable tile we’ll add an appropriate grout in both color and consistency (sanded or non-sanded). Following grout we’ll add a protective covering to prevent chipping and flaking in the future. Finally, we will replace the shoe moulding and your beautiful new floor will be complete.
